Vision
To raise the voice of people with disabilities, orphans, street children, youth, teenage girls and vulnerable women, involving them to achieve full participation and equal status in society, motivating them to participate in different activities socially, economically, and educationally.
Kalobeyei Integrated Youth Progress is a youth-led Community-Based Organization registered in Kenya dedicated to transforming lives and fostering sustainable programs and development in marginalized and underserved communities. Founded with a strong passion for social justice and equity, KIYP operates at the intersection of health, education, protection and resilience, driven by community participation and inclusive approaches.
We work hand-in-hand with local communities to implement impactful programs across several thematic areas: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), child protection, inclusive education, environmental protection, sustainable livelihoods, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), disability inclusion and peace building. Our integrated model ensures holistic development with a particular focus on vulnerable populations such as women, children and persons with disabilities, teenage girls and youth.

We facilitate and advocate across key thematic areas:
• Providing access to quality education for children, especially orphans and vulnerable youth.
• Supporting educational infrastructure, teacher training, and educational materials.
• Offering vocational training to equip youth with practical skills for self-reliance.
Our programs aim to prevent and respond to all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence against children. We strengthen community-based child protection systems and work with caregivers, schools, and local leaders to build safer environments for children.
• Supporting income-generating activities, including organic farming and eco-friendly crafts.
• Offering training and resources to help community members start and sustain small businesses.
• Creating market opportunities for local products through community markets and cooperatives.
• Implementing solid waste management programs to keep the environment clean and healthy.
• Leading reforestation and afforestation efforts to combat desertification.
• Conducting environmental awareness campaigns to educate the community on the importance of environmental
protection.
We ensure that all our programs are inclusive of persons with disabilities, advocating for equal rights and access to services, education, and employment opportunities.

We promote comprehensive SRHR education, advocate for youth-friendly services, and work to reduce stigma and barriers to access, especially for adolescents, women, and persons with disabilities.

Gender Based Violence (GBV),is a serious human rights violation that includes physical, sexual, psychosocial,and Economic harm directed at individuals based on their gender. women,girls are disproportionately affected, especially in crisis or displacement .
Through the Wisdom Digital Innovation Hub, our learners are gaining foundational ICT skills that are preparing them for the future and expanding their horizons beyond the classroom. From learning basic computer operations to developing digital literacy, these young learners are building confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills that are essential for the 21st century. For many, this is their first opportunity to interact with technology in a meaningful way. This initiative is more than teaching computers, it is about creating pathways to opportunity, innovation, and self-reliance for refugee and host community children. By investing in digital education today, we are equipping the next generation with the tools they need to participate in the global economy and become agents of positive change in their communities. We have conducted 100 sessions on environmental protection and established a solid waste management system in Kalobeyei Settlement Camp. We have collected 30,000ts for waste (plastic). We have conducted the community awareness about solid waste management and 2,000 people participated.

Ongoing activity on 27 Nove 2025 Kalobeyei Integrated Youth Progress successfully conducted a clean up campaign and community Engagement activity at the Somali community in kalobeyei.this initiative is part of our commitment to promoting a clean, healthy and inclusive environment for all residents. this activity brought together youth, women, community members and volunteers who worked hand in hand to: Reduce plastic waste and improve sanitation Raise awareness on proper waste disposal Strengthen community participation and responsibility Promote peaceful and healthy living space we appreciate the active participation and strong spirit of unity demonstrated throughout the day.

KIYP-CBO so far trained 372 youth, women, and elder. With continues Inclusive training that focused on Business Learning,Financial Management, Financial literacy, Proposal writing, and Result- based management. Bringing together passinate young women and men from Kalobeyei, From budgeting basic to drafting impactful proposals, the participants had gain skill and the tools to lead change, building businesses that serve people. The session also spotlighted the urgent needs for Solid waste management for a healthy community, and how sustainable plastic waste system can drive environmental protection while unlocking economic opportunities.
Kalobeyei Integrated Youth Progress (KIYP) successfully conducted a multi-stakeholder workshop on Solid Waste Management for a Healthy Community Project, bringing together government representatives, development partners, private sectors, community based organization and community members in Turkana West. The workshop provided a valuable platform to openly discuss the current challenges of solid waste and plastic pollution in Turkana West, which continue to pose risks to public health, environmental sustainability and livelihoods. Participants shared insights on the root causes of poor waste management and explored practical, community-driven solutions for reducing plastic waste, strengthening recycling initiatives and promoting responsible waste practices. Key outcomes of the workshop included: Identifying locally appropriate solutions to reduce plastic pollution Exploring opportunities for recycling and circular economy approaches involving youth, women, persons with disabilities and the private sector Developing a community-led action plan to improve solid waste management and promote a healthier environment KIYP remains committed to youth-led action, collaboration and inclusive partnerships to drive sustainable waste management solutions and build resilient, healthy communities in Turkana West. At Kalobeyei Wisdom Academy, KIYP CBO's feeding program ensures students learn on a full stomach. By providing daily, nutritious meals, we fuel both their bodies and minds for better focus, health, and academic success.

KIYP-CBO, together with ISRAAID-Kenya, had trained young women, youth, and community leaders in Kalobeyei on Gender Based Violence (GBV). The session gave participants knowleedge and courage to speak out. they learned that silnce allows violence to continue, but speaking out protects families & builds repects.
Every keyboard these students touch is a step toward opportunity. At KIYP, we run digital literacy classes that equip youth with essential ICT skills to thrive in today's world. Our programs serve both refugee and host communities, giving every young person the chance to build digital confidence and problem-solving skills. As the digital economy grows, ICT continues to create thousands of opportunities in technology, business, and beyond. Today, Kalobeyei Integrated Youth Progress (KIYP) CBO proudly celebrated the official launch of the KIYP Green School Project and the Community Dividend Fund a significant milestone in advancing quality education, climate resilience, and sustainable community development. The Green School Project is designed as an integrated learning environment that combines climate-resilient classrooms, clean energy solutions, a modern electric kitchen, and environmental education. By creating safe, comfortable, and sustainable learning spaces, the project supports better educational outcomes while promoting environmental stewardship and climate resilience. The event brought together representatives from UNHCR, the Department of Refugee Services (DRS), the Turkana County Government, IsraAID, UN-Habitat, SOLCO Partnership, SWEEP Partnership, GIZ, Mwangaza light, LWF, Lokado,Last Mile Climate, and Takazuri Limited, reflecting the strength of partnership in delivering meaningful and lasting change. As part of the Green School Project, learners will benefit from climate-friendly classrooms that provide a safe, comfortable, and inspiring environment for learning. The project also includes a modern, clean kitchen that promotes clean cooking, improves hygiene, enhances the school feeding program, and creates a healthier environment for both learners and staff. Implemented by Takazuri Limited and supported by Last Mile Climate, this initiative demonstrates how investing in sustainable infrastructure can improve educational outcomes while contributing to environmental protection and community well-being. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our partners, stakeholders, and the local community for their commitment and collaboration. Together, we are creating learning spaces that nurture young minds, promote climate-smart solutions, and build a greener, more resilient future for generations to come.
